Consumer tech group finds good news, bad news in Newsom’s AI decisions

The Consumer Technology Association says California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) final determinations on this year’s artificial intelligence bills offer a mixed bag for the tech sector, praising the veto of proposed new controls on automated decision-making systems while warning that an AI “transparency” bill signed into law will introduce new liabilities in areas beyond the control of platforms.
