Commerce issues AI export controls balancing security with trade, expecting Trump revisions

The Commerce Department has released its highly anticipated export controls for artificial intelligence with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo saying the interim rule seeks to balance continued commerce and U.S. innovation with the security risks related to the most advanced frontier models, while expecting the incoming Trump administration to revise the unprecedented requirements based on comments due in May.
