Civil society groups remain in NIST’s AI consortium despite new agreement, stressing safety needs

The National Fair Housing Alliance and the Center for Democracy and Technology are staying in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s AI Safety Institute consortium, following changes to their research agreement with the agency that removed key terms -- safety, responsible, fairness, and socio-technical -- from the document.
