Civil rights coalition urges Biden to set anti-bias AI rules for national security

A coalition of civil rights groups is urging President Biden to require that artificial intelligence used to promote national security adhere to new anti-bias requirements as well as domestic and international legal norms.

The coalition details its request in a July 24 letter to National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in advance of a national security memorandum on AI governance for military and intelligence operations due July 26 under Biden’s executive order to promote trustworthy AI.
