California lawmakers reject two major AI regulatory bills, pass others

California lawmakers have rejected two AI regulatory bills heavily opposed by the tech sector, but approved several others including a “first-in-the-nation” transparency requirement on the largest companies.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has until Oct. 12 to sign or veto bills.
