California lawmakers advance AI regulatory bills in face of past defeats

California lawmakers are again advancing industry-opposed bills to regulate different aspects of artificial intelligence systems – including requiring transparency behind automated decision systems -- despite failing to pass virtually the same legislation over the past few years.
