California advances bill restricting employer use of AI to manage workers

California state senators are advancing an industry-opposed bill to bar employers from relying on automated decision-making systems to make hiring, promotion, discipline or termination decisions without human oversight, while also prohibiting the use of ADS that tap personal worker information to “predict” employee behavior or productivity.
