Bill by Schumer, senior Democrats addresses neurotechnology AI risks

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) and senior colleagues have introduced a bill aimed at addressing artificial intelligence and other risks associated with neurotechnology, calling for regulatory recommendations from the Federal Trade Commission and guidance to federal agencies on use of the technology.

The Management of Individuals’ Neural Data Act of 2025, or MIND Act, aims to “prevent powerful tech conglomerates from collecting, selling and combining brain data in ways that could manipulate users’ decisions, emotions, or purchases,” according to...
