AI competition advocates suggest need to mandate interoperability

Regulators should work across agencies and governments -- and enforce transparency -- in order to ensure interoperable artificial intelligence systems capable of supporting an innovative and accessible range of AI products and services, according to a joint report from Mozilla and the Open Markets Institute.

“Given the natural incentive of commercial actors is to limit interoperability and data portability, there is a clear role for policy and regulation in mandating it,” reads the report published Oct. 17
