Activists call for privacy law in trying to block Senate-passed kids online act

Civil and human rights advocates opposed to the Kids Online Safety Act, approved July 30 by the Senate, are calling for long-stalled passage of a national privacy law instead of the blanket “duty of care” provisions in KOSA for suppressing harmful content to children, which they say could be abused to target and censor LGBTQ content on social media.
